We’ve had 3/01 so now we’ve arrived at 30/1 and time for another Peugeot 301, a contemporary one this time.
Meet the new 301.
It has been ordained chez Peugeot that future developing market models that aren’t going to be found on the roads of France are going to be x01 models while those of us who are developed will get x08 models. Except that some get both, but never mind.
La nouvelle 301 is based on PSA’s PF1 platform as are the 208 and Citroen C3 and is built in China, Nigeria and somewhat surprisingly given that it’s not sold in Western Europe, Spain. It’s powered by a 1.2 triple, a 1.6 four and a 1.6 diesel four with various choices of manual, automatic and automated manual gearboxes. It comes only in three-box form, because the developing markets have yet to develop much of a taste for hatchbacks.
You can buy one in America*.
If you don’t like Peugeots, you can get basically the same car as the Citroen C-Elysée.

By the way, this is kind of off topic, but I noticed a lot of Dacias (or rebadged versions) in developing countries. How are they in terms of safety? Aren’t they structurally built to UN-ECE standards? Are they considered safe in EU countries?

Some Chrysler 200, a bit of Fusion, Accord in the back. High beltline (visibility?). And a bit of a Hofmeister kink if I’m not mistaken. Wholly inoffensive.
And Messicans? Preznit Trump says he’s gonna get rid o’ all of ‘em!

Not bad. When I traveled to India, I saw plenty of Mahindara Veritos (Dacia Logan), Renault (Dacia) Logdys, and Renault (Dacia) Dusters over there. I rode in a Verito and Lodgy. I loved the Lodgy and its ride compared to a lot of cars there.
Looks like the Logan was discontinued in Europe, but it’s still on sale over there in India. It’s Euro NCAP ratings look mediocre, so I guess it was smart to discontinue it and possibly replace it.

That’s also a map of countries that have to wait 25 years to import cars because ‘Freedom’. :)

There’s a new Logan in most markets, but it is just a Sandero Wagon.

They’re perfectly fine, they’re essentially all built on the Clio III platform from 2005.

That’s the Logan MCV, but the Logan sedan is still on sale in France at least. All three (Logan, Logan MCV, Sandero) are basically the same car in three different body styles.
